Happy
New Year
You may have noticed there hasn’t been a new issue of the Minor
Details E-zine since July. No, you weren’t removed from the
mailing list… I simply took a break during a very busy season
for my business.
In August, I signed an agreement with Grace
Licensing to market my artwork to manufacturers. This is very
exciting! It can be a very lengthy process of gift market shows, meeting
with interested manufacturers, developing new lines of work and waiting
for production to be completed, but I’m very enthusiastic about
this new opportunity and will keep you posted on new developments!
In addition to acquiring an agent, I have picked up a new gallery
in Quincy, IL to carry my work. Gallery Outre, located at 614 Maine
Street, in downtown Quincy, is open Tuesday through Saturday 2pm –
7pm. If you have not yet been to this swank, new gallery, stop in
and take-a-look around. It’s worth the trip.
Along with these new ventures, I also had a very long list of commissions
to complete for holiday gift giving. Needless to say, my fall months
were jam-packed.
I am excited to publish this new edition for 2007 and will be sending
bi-monthly e-zines throughout the year. I wish each of you a Happy
New Year and all the best for 2007! |
New
Products!
I have many new paintings to share with you over the coming months!
My children's line caught the eye of my agent and has been growing
since last Summer. All of the paintings are available as a giclee
print. A giclee is a high quality print made with archival inks and
printed directly on watercolor paper. The end result is a beautiful,
soft, vibrant piece that looks so close to the original it is difficult
to tell the difference.
Unlike the original though, it is very affordable! Sold by the square
foot, a 12 x 12 print costs only $60. Check out my children's
line and any of my other
work today. If you see something you'd like to have, email
me for a quote or buy
online if available.
Don't Forget the Framing!
I also offer affordable framing options. As you know, framing can
be more expensive than the artwork itself! That's why I've decided
to offer a framing service for all of my collectors. If you are interested
in a framing quote, attach a note with your order or email. I'll find
the perfect frame to suit your needs and take care of all of the hassle
for you. Your artwork will arrive beautiful and ready to hang.

Winter
I recently picked up a new magazine I had not seen on the racks
before. This is just another way for me to procrastinate. I like
to think of the hours I spend reading and flipping through magazines
as market research for trends and style forecasting. I guess that’s
true, in a sense, but it also means I’m avoiding doing what
I really need to be doing… PAINTING!
It’s not that I don’t want to paint. It’s my passion,
my career, my life! However, the creative process can be maddening
at times. I may have an idea for a painting and wait six months
to begin because I’m not sure exactly what style or color
palette to use. Procrastination is the evil disease that pairs itself
with creativity and I’m a master.
Inside the magazine, were tons of ideas about how to enjoy this
dreary season. This long, cold season stretching from January 1
to the first signs of Spring. This time of year can be a very somber,
lonely time. Gray skies and brown landscapes, outdoor activities
are limited to taking out the trash and feeding the pets.
It reminded me that we need to utilize this time to do the things
we have “procrastinated” since the dawn of the previous
Spring. Look around and recognize the splendor of this time of year.
A fire in the fireplace, snuggled tight with your family, renting
DVD’s and playing board games, wrapping yourself in soft clothing
and cozy hats and scarves, this time of year can be heart warming!
Even if you are alone, working a puzzle, or curling up with a good
book can be just the rejuvenation your soul needs to prepare for
an upcoming busy season.
If you are like me, and procrastination comes naturally, dig up
one of those “backburner” items you’ve been wanting
to tackle and use this slow-paced season to tackle it. Use your
creativity and brighten up your home with a new project or decorating
idea. Before we know it, our lives will be filled with the busy
pace of Spring and Summer activities, chores to complete in the
yard, ballgames, garden planting and all sorts of other time-thieving
commitments. So raise your mug of hot cocoa, coffee or spiced cider
and toast this glorious season… Embrace Winter.
